In brief: PourNote is designed to work mainly on your device. The current version uses no PourNote account, proprietary server, advertising or third-party analytics. We do not sell personal data.

1. Data controller

The data controller is Vincenzo Parente (Parentelab), an independent developer operating in Italy. For privacy requests, write to admin@parentelab.it.

2. Data processed by the app

PourNote processes the information you choose to enter in your diary, including:

  • wine name, producer, vintage, colour, style and other descriptive information;
  • scores, sensory attributes, descriptors and written notes;
  • date, occasion and location of the tasting;
  • photos and any metadata stored in the selected file;
  • voice memos and, when available in your version, their transcription;
  • purchase or subscription status needed to enable Premium features. Payment data are handled by the store and are not accessible to PourNote.

3. Purpose and operation

The data are used to create, save, display, search, sort and export tastings. Processing for ranking and diary organisation takes place on the device when supported by the operating system. In the current version, diary content is not sent by the controller to remote services for advertising, profiling or model training.

The legal basis is the performance of features requested by the user. For photos, microphone and location, we also rely on the choice expressed through device permissions, which can be revoked at any time.

4. Optional permissions

  • Camera and photo library: to take or attach an image to a tasting.
  • Microphone: to record a voice memo at the user's request.
  • Location: to suggest or save the tasting location.

Denying a permission disables only the related feature. Permissions can be changed in iOS or Android settings.

5. Storage, backup and export

Tastings and attachments are stored locally on the device. On Apple devices, when available and enabled by the user or system, data may be included in the user's iCloud space. On Android, they may be included in system backup and device transfer mechanisms. These services are linked to the user's Apple or Google account and governed by their respective policies.

If your app version offers export and import, you choose where to save the file and with whom to share it. The controller does not independently access your personal cloud storage.

6. Recipients and platform services

We do not share diary content with advertisers or data brokers. Apple and Google may process technical data about downloads, purchases, subscriptions, backups and store operation under their own terms. Diagnostic data voluntarily sent to support are used only to answer the request.

7. Partner landings and first-party measurement

When you open a landing with a valid partner code, the page checks that code against the campaign's approved list. Only after consent does the browser save the preference in local storage and the partner code in session storage. The site records anonymous events for landing views, recognised codes, code copying, store clicks and Wine of the Week views.

The payload contains only the event type, partner code, page type and date/time. It contains no name, email, journal content, advertising identifier or IP address. First-party event logs are kept for no more than 90 days and are used to measure the campaign, not to claim a conversion: subscriptions are reconciled only against verified store data. You can decline without losing access to the offer or later clear the site's data in your browser.

8. Retention and deletion

Local data remain on the device until you delete a tasting, clear app data or uninstall PourNote. Cloud backups and exported files may need to be deleted separately from the service or folder where they are stored. Full instructions are available on Data management and deletion.

9. Your rights

Where provided by Regulation (EU) 2016/679, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability of data processed by the controller, and withdraw consent without affecting prior processing. Because the diary is not stored on a PourNote server, many actions take place directly on your device.

For assistance, write to admin@parentelab.it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority or the competent supervisory authority.

10. Minors and responsible drinking

PourNote is intended for adults and people who have reached the minimum legal drinking age under applicable law. The app does not sell alcohol and is not designed to knowingly collect data from minors.

11. Security and changes

We take measures proportionate to the app's local nature, but no device or backup system is immune from loss or unauthorised access. Protect your device, system account and exported copies. This notice may be updated to reflect changes to the app or law; the date above identifies the current version.
